Black-throated Gray Warbler (photos) – Visit to Laguna Niguel Regional Park at 4pm – September 11, 2014

Upon arrival approximately 4:15 I met up with Jeff Bray behind Shelter 3 just behind the main entrance.  Jeff had located a Virginia’s Warbler at 10:30 a.m. a day earlier however the was no sign of the Virginia’s Warbler this afternoon or earlier in the day.  The usual Orange-crowned Warblers were present with a few Townsen’s Warblers between Shelters 3 and 6.

At 5:51 p.m. I was within close range of a Black-throated Gray Warbler foraging within the bulrushes behind Shelter #3.  This warbler stood out quite nicely amongst the greenery and was mingling with the Scaly-breasted Munias (about 20) near the creek.  The Black-throated Gray Warbler stay for approximately 3 minutes then return around 6:15 p.m.

Here’s a few photos along with a list of today’s eBird report which can be found HERE
