If you’ve been to Bolsa Chica Ecological Reserve in Huntington Beach, CA you’ll know why this a fantastic birding “hot spot”.\u00a0 If not and you’re an avid birder like me, it’s time for a visit.\u00a0 Like any birding place, there’s the regulars here such as the Black Skimmer, Western Gulls, Willets, Marbled Godwits, the Reddish Egrets and so on but through the year there are an abundance of frequent visitors.\u00a0 Several hundred species have been documented at this location.<\/p>\n

Today’s brief visit turned up Semipalmated Plovers, Long-billed Curlews (one was quite large far more so than the others), a variety of Terns (Least, Forster’s, Caspian, Elegant and Royal) Least Sandpipers.\u00a0 For a more complete list click here:\u00a0 eBird Check List for 7-23-14<\/a><\/p>\n
