{"id":2277,"date":"2016-02-26T01:28:00","date_gmt":"2016-02-26T08:28:00","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/ocbirds.com\/?p=2277"},"modified":"2016-02-26T02:08:53","modified_gmt":"2016-02-26T09:08:53","slug":"2-cactus-wrens-bell-view-trail-sw-rancho-santa-margarita-hd-video-2-24-2016","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/ocbirds.com\/?p=2277","title":{"rendered":"2 Cactus Wrens &#8211; Bell View Trail SW, Rancho Santa Margarita &#8211; HD Video 2-24-2016"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>In previous years, frequenting the Bell View Trail SW has been consistent with finding both the Rock Wren and the Cactus Wren.\u00a0 It seems by January the Rock Wren disappears but the Cactus Wrens remain typically in two areas:\u00a0 about 10 minutes into the trail from the parking lot and also near the reservoir just where it forks over into Dove Canyon.\u00a0 However, the last few visits have shown no recent sightings at least that I could find.\u00a0 I was beginning to give up hope that they moved on to another location such as Whiting Ranch which in fact has been consistent for Cactus Wren sightings year after year.\u00a0 As a side note, after the fires in 2007, the Orange County Register reported they had evacuated the area but returned about 5 years later.\u00a0 The article title from January 21, 2012 was entitled &#8220;<a href=\"http:\/\/www.ocregister.com\/articles\/wrens-336783-cactus-habitat.html\">Charismatic <b>cactus<\/b> <b>wrens<\/b> are once again thriving in a nature&#8221; <\/a><em>(note this link may not work as the OC Register requires a subscription to its paper).
