An amiable Rock Wren perches up high to vocalize.<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n

At approximately 1:45pm, Jeff Bray, Mike Sanders and myself set out for the Oso Reservoir in Rancho Santa Margarita.\u00a0 Upon parking near the boat launch area we noted a Common Merganser amongst the various waterfowl.\u00a0 Also in today’s journey we located 100’s of American Wigeons (see photos below), Green-winged Teals, 3 Rock Wrens (photo below), an American Kestral (male) and 51 other species.<\/p>\n

I also managed to record a cell phone video while carrying camera gear, binoculars and a monopod.\u00a0 This is also posted below.\u00a0 The video was taken around 4pm after an approximate 3 mile loop around the reservoir.\u00a0 Thanks to Mike Sanders for his intrepid leadership as we made our way through the various dense plant life and unpaved landscape.\u00a0 We successfully dodged any serious injury during our local safari though Jeff and I were jabbed by a quite a few Cocklebur<\/a>.<\/p>\n

A compiled eBird list is forthcoming while we wait approval for a probable Swamp Sparrow.<\/p>\n
