Via special permission, I was granted access to this private area on October 30, 2014 at approximately 3:30pm to perform a bird survey.\u00a0 I had parked near the docking area as there was plenty of bird activity at this one location.\u00a0 My previous visit on September 28th also offered reasonably concentrated activity at this location as well.\u00a0 I felt compelled to canvas this area more thoroughly on this second go round than my previous visit.<\/p>\n

On the September 28 outing, Jeff Bray and I had located 50 species over a period of roughly 2 hours and 50 minutes and walked 2.5 miles.\u00a0 Yesterday’s visit tallied 35 species with a walking distance of approximately a half a mile. Newer bird species that did not overlap the last visit this time were a lone Rock Wren (shown below) and 14 American Pipits.\u00a0 Here’s the submitted list for October 30, 2014 to eBird<\/a>.<\/p>\n

The final half hour (5:45 – 6:15) offered a most incredible sunset of which the Canon 500mm lens was ostensibly unable to capture due to its focal length therefore the Samsung Note II built in camera had to suffice.<\/p>\n
