{"id":994,"date":"2014-09-25T12:52:50","date_gmt":"2014-09-25T19:52:50","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/ocbirds.com\/?page_id=994"},"modified":"2023-09-04T20:43:14","modified_gmt":"2023-09-05T03:43:14","slug":"bird-rescue-injured-birds","status":"publish","type":"page","link":"https:\/\/ocbirds.com\/?page_id=994","title":{"rendered":"<b>Bird Rescue \/ Injured Birds<\/b>"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Recently, I had come across an injured Wilson&#8217;s Warbler and wasn&#8217;t sure where to turn too.\u00a0 After a post in the <a title=\"Orange County Birding Yahoo\" href=\"https:\/\/groups.yahoo.com\/neo\/groups\/OrangeCountyBirding\/info\">Orange County Yahoo Birding listserv<\/a>, I received numerous replies of local organizations to contact for injured bird assistance as well as How To Care For An Injured Bird.<\/p>\n<p>Here&#8217;s a few ways to care for an injured bird courtesy of Songbird Rescue<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><strong>Temporary Care Instructions for All Birds:<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<ol>\n<li>NO food or water Keep the bird warm.<\/li>\n<li>Tissue filled shoe box or other small box with holes in lid.<\/li>\n<li>Place on Heating Pad on &#8220;LOW.&#8221;<\/li>\n<li>Keep bird in a dark, quiet place.<\/li>\n<li>Leave the bird alone; don&#8217;t handle or bother it.<\/li>\n<li>Keep children and pets away.<\/li>\n<li>Call a wildlife rehabilitation center<\/li>\n<li>If you&#8217;ve rescued a smaller bird such as a Warbler,\u00a0 a Park Ranger on the east coast wrote and stated:\u00a0 &#8220;<span class=\"_5yl5\" data-reactid=\".1z.$mid=11424278008273=2bcd0dae0abc971a075.2:0.0.0.0.0\"><span data-reactid=\".1z.$mid=11424278008273=2bcd0dae0abc971a075.2:0.0.0.0.0.0\"><span data-reactid=\".1z.$mid=11424278008273=2bcd0dae0abc971a075.2:0.0.0.0.0.0.$end:0:$0:0\">the smaller ones I put inside a paper bag, this I learned from a wildlife rehab workshop.
