John Baca Park is located at 7329 Sherwood Dr in Huntington Beach, CA. There are 4 entrances to the park. Ellis Ave, Garnet Lane and the two main entrances off Sherwood Drive. The directions below are how to access the Ecological Reserve from the west entrance (2nd entrance) off Sherwood Drive.

This is a residential area and parking is typically good.  If you opt to access this park off the entrance described below, continue west past the playground until you reach the Ecological Reserve as shown below.  If you bear right at the “Junction” photo below you’ll head toward a water basin.  Depending on the time of year and how much water fall we’ve had here in southern California, you’re may find a few surprises or simply local common birds such as Snowy Egrets and House Finches.  Like any place, it’s a”hit or miss” situation.  ore notes below

As of May 2014 over 85 species have been recorded at this park.  See the John Baca Park complete list at eBird

<–Stream / Creek – Note:  At the back end of the park, if you bear left you’ll find a few trails that lead down into the wooded area.  Two dirt trails do not have signs posted though some of these areas do have signs posted to Keep Out that it is an ecological reserve. However each time I’ve gone there, I’ve noticed hikers and other pedestrians that enter this area.  Enter at your own risk.  Please leave no litter of any kind and be mindful of homes that run along both sides of this wooded area.
